Celebrate the International Day of Yoga 2022 with Calissa!

Yoga is an ancient tradition of physical, mental, and spiritual practice that originated in India. The word ‘yoga’ derives from Sanskrit and means to join or to unite, symbolizing the union of body and consciousness. A yoga practitioner will take body postures known as Asanas, which can improve strength, balance, and flexibility. Other benefits of yoga include mental health, heart and back health, its relaxing nature that helps with insomnia and stress, and its ability to help you connect with other people.

When the International Day of Yoga was proposed to the United Nations by India to occur on June 21st, the summer solstice, it was endorsed by a record 175 member states. Clearly, the Indian Hindu practice had picked up special significance in all parts of the world. The proposal was first introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his address during the opening of the 69th session of the United Nations General Assembly, in which he said: “Yoga is an invaluable gift from our ancient tradition. Yoga embodies unity of mind and body, thought and action ... a holistic approach [that] is valuable to our health and our well-being. Yoga is not just about exercise; it is a way to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world, and nature.”

While historically Yoga was practiced in yoga classes, the pandemic has made it available to do on zoom, social media, or in parks and nature. Whether it’s your first yoga session, or you practice yoga enough to call yourself a northern-hemisphere yogi, make use of the summer solstice, and take a chance to cultivate your well-being on the longest day of the year, June 21st.

Let’s run a little wellness meditative marketing. Sit back and imagine how Yoga can help your well-being, physical health, and mental health, and how we can help you reach Aikyam - oneness.

Firstly, as it will be the summer solstice, your enrichment therapy will surely be best in the summer day. How else to connect good health to nature than to practice it in a nearby park, or the garden? So, you’ve got your yoga mat, and some active clothing on, ready to soak in the sun - it’s not glamorous, but you won’t want to have your post-workout well-being ruined by sunburn.

Radical Skincare Skin Perfecting Screen SPF30 is best applied in the mornings over moisturiser, or under makeup as a primer. It uses 100% non-chemical filters to protect against UVA/UVB rays, as well as crushed diamond powder to deflect light and blur wrinkles, so you can up your self-care in skincare as well as mental health and physical health.

Another often under-respected part of mental health and physical health is dehydration. To improve your quality of life out and about, make sure the Bkr Elle Water Bottle is part of your everyday life. The stylish coral hue is perfect for invoking a sense of quietly powerful freedom and life, like the beautiful corals we can find in nature. The coronavirus pandemic is over - take wellness outside!

If you’re needing to do Yoga inside, only have twenty minutes on your lunch break, or simply prefer the privacy of your own home, you can still engage in the global wellness program through apps, TV, or simply by googling the best Yoga Asanas. To compliment your home practice, how about starting off with a mood-setting Haeckels Walpole Bay Candle. This soy wax candle evokes the scent of waves crashing into the once busy tidal pool, the overgrown grasses, and chalk reefs where seaweed grows. Saltwater, fresh and green seaweed, and sweet distinctive white flowers. Perfect for a practice that invokes mental clarity, as your breaths match the coming and going of the tide.

Once your yoga workout is over, the Skin & Tonic London Calm Clean from our gym essential range will help you to get rid of dirt and impurities whilst further relaxing your mood thanks to the calming Jasmine extract. By massaging a small amount into your face and neck and holding a warm soaked cloth against your face for one minute, you will also awaken the essential oils for a moisturizing, soothing lift that also holds against infirmity.

Then, wrap up the health care session with Dr Jackson’s Relax Tea, which has been specially formulated to alleviate feelings of stress or anxiety. With an invigorating citrus taste and a perfumed aroma, this tea can be used during the day or before bed for a serene night's sleep.
